Literature & History is an international refereed journal that explores the relationships between writing, history and ideology. Published since 1975 and unique in its essentially plural identity, it provides an open forum for practitioners coming from the distinctive vantage points of either discipline, or from other adjacent subject areas, to explore issues of common concern: period, content, gender, class, nationality, changing sensibilities, discourse and language.
The journal seeks a new co-editor, who will join current co-editors Prof Vike Martina Plock (University
of Exeter, UK), Prof Helen Smith (University of York, UK) and Prof Andrew Thacker (Nottingham Trent University, UK) to make up the editorial team.
Responsibilities of the co-editorship include:
• Contributing to the strategic development of the journal
• Managing and developing the Editorial Panel and Editorial Advisory Board
• Actively soliciting submissions and identifying opportunities for special issues
• Managing the receipt and peer review of scholarly submissions, liaising with authors, and exercising responsibility for the selection and revision of articles
• Liaison with Sage Publications, ensuring the delivery of copy according to agreed production schedules, and reviewing article proofs.
The new editorial position will be available from January 2025. Editors receive editorial expenses of £75
per annum and the Publisher is seeking an initial 3-5 year commitment.
